Lucy as your celebrant

Lucy Taylor, Celebrant Number 1, is an independent, award-winning Yorkshire celebrant. She was trained through the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants and was winner of the National Celebrant Awards in 2019 and runner up in 2018.

Whether you're planning a wedding, civil partnership or same-sex marriage; a blessing or renewal of vows; a child-naming ceremony; hand fasting or a pagan ceremony; or a funeral or remembrance service, Lucy will ensure the day happens your way.

Lucy is based in Baildon (close to Shipley and Ilkley) in West Yorkshire, and officiates at ceremonies across the whole of Yorkshire and further afield. So whether you're planning a celebration at a local hotel, a ruined castle, a deserted beach or your own back garden, Lucy would love to be involved.

Lucy will spend time with you as a couple and as a family to understand your needs, so she can ensure that the ceremony is a true reflection of you and your personalities.

I will create for you a totally unique ceremony which reflects your fun and loving sides as a couple, the sides that everybody knows and adores befitting of your perfect bespoke ceremony – so go ahead and lets be different!

From now until the big day, I will be by your side working on any edits or changes until you are both 100% thrilled with it

As we approach the big day, I shall reach out again for a final meeting to confirm the ceremony layout, music, readings and timings.

Will our wedding ceremony with a celebrant be legal?

You will have to do the legal bit separately with a Registrar but please don’t worry as I will guide you through the steps… it’s very easy and having worked with Registrar’s for quite a while, I am more than happy to help you. Think of it as getting the 'paperwork' out of the way - you don't even have to exchange rings; you can save that for your celebrant ceremony!

You can do the 'legal bit' at any time before or after your main celebration.

Wedding day

I arrive an hour and and a half before the ceremony as I will always liaise with your photographers , music coordinator or musicians to ensure that everything is as discussed and just right for you…. And then the magic will begin!

I will stay until your welcome drinks reception is in full swing, and then quietly leave you to party with your guests.

My pledge to you

I specialise in delivering beautifully crafted and deeply personal wedding and commitment ceremonies. Your guests will be complementing the ceremony for many more moons to come. I pride myself in making each ceremony bespoke to you and memorable in such a wonderful way.

I will charge you the same fee as the registrars will charge had they come to your venue– that’s the fair thing to do!
As an example North Yorkshire Registrars charge £550 ( Saturday ceremony )whilst South Yorkshire Registrars charge ( £490 Saturday ceremony ) and my prices will be reflective of theirs year on year.

I aim to conduct one wedding a day – so I’m all yours and not having to rush off to another ceremony!

I will always dress in your marital colours inorder to blend in with your bridal party – why not?

I predominantly cover all of wonderful Yorkshire, but will happily travel anywhere in the UK inorder to ensure you have the best ceremony ever!

Lets do this and lets not be ordinary!

Pride wedding ceremonies are welcomed and encouraged

Lucy says: "I am happy to meet with my couple as many times as is required, to write as many drafts of the ceremony as is required, to ensure that everything is perfect. I will arrive at the venue at least an hour and a half before the ceremony to liaise with the wedding coordinator, photographers, musicians and so on, whilst also visiting with the bride to ensure that she is fine and any last minute nerves are quickly wiped away. It's very important to me to ensure that all my couples thoroughly enjoy the day which is why my motto is Your Day, Your Way."

Lucy continues: "When I ask people to describe a standard wedding ceremony to which they had been invited, the responses I get are often similar - "it was nice",  "it was ok", "you know, same old, same old". Your ceremony when led by me will be memorable, unique, and specifically designed to reflect you both and all that is important to you. "Nice" and "ok" just aren't good enough!"

“We will meet several times before the wedding day and I will create for you several drafts of your ceremony as your ceremony becomes a living thing, reflecting you both so that on your wedding day, all your friends and family will be blown away by that personal touch. Each ceremony is very special to me so each one has to be perfect in every way.”
